I have been referred to HMC. What happens now?
Regardless if you’re seeking therapy or assessment services, our process is the same.
Initial Contact: If your email was not provided with your referral, we will contact you by SMS or phone call. Usually, you can expect to hear from us within 2 business days. If you don’t hear from us within 5 business days, please get in touch to check if we've received your referral.
Questionnaire: We'll email you a link to complete our online triaging questionnaire to ensure we're the right fit for you. Remember to check your junk mail in case it lands there. Your answers will help us to be sure that we will be a good fit for you.
Once we go through your answers in the triaging questionnaire, we'll figure out if we can offer you a service within a reasonable timeframe. If it turns out we can't, we'll inform you and try to guide you on the next steps or direct you towards possible alternatives.
Intake Forms: If we find that we can offer you a service within a reasonable timeframe, we'll send you an email. Inside that email, you'll find a link to complete our online intake forms. You must complete these forms before you'll be offered an initial appointment. This ensures you are fully aware of and understand our important policies.
Matching with a Clinician: Once we receive your completed intake forms, we look to match you with the most suitable clinician with the soonest availability. We take this process very seriously to ensure that you receive personalised care that meets your needs and aligns with your preferences as closely as possible.
We generally aim to schedule initial appointments a few months into the future for your peace of mind. However, in some cases, clients may be placed on a waitlist. If this occurs, we'll inform you via email.
Notification of Earlier Appointments: You may hear from us via email, SMS, or call if an appointment becomes available sooner than expected.
Booking Your Initial Appointment: When we can offer you an initial appointment, we'll likely get in touch via email. Inside that email, you'll find details about your clinician and a convenient online booking link. It's really important to book a ‘NEW CLIENT’ appointment as soon as possible to avoid waiting longer. You can also opt to book 1-2 fortnightly ‘CURRENT CLIENT’ appointments to secure your preferred times.
Please note that initial appointments are usually at specified times to ensure clinicians have enough time to gather all the necessary information. However, for subsequent appointments, you'll enjoy more flexibility in choosing your preferred time slots.
