Will my private health insurance cover my appointments?
Private health insurance coverage for your appointments at HMC depends on specific conditions. To be eligible for a private health rebate on your appointment fee, your private health insurance policy must cover appointments with your clinician.
Coverage:
Psychologists & Clinical Psychologists:
Services are typically covered by most private health funds.
Accredited Mental Health Social Workers:
Services are only covered by Bupa Health Insurance, UniHealth, Teachers Health, St Lukes Health, HCF Health Insurance or Nurses & Midwives Health.
Other Clinicians:
Services provided by a Provisional Psychologist, Play Therapist, or Therapy Assistant are not eligible for private health rebates.
Important:
It is your responsibility to contact your private health insurer to confirm if your policy covers the services you intend to claim.
Private health funds do not cover cancellation fees or assessment reports.
Certain services, such as telephone appointments, may not be covered by specific funds. Ensure your fund covers the specific services you require.
Billing & Claims:
Some insurers may require specific billing codes to process rebates. If applicable, please obtain this information and provide it to HMC before your appointment.
You cannot claim from both Medicare and private health insurance for the same appointment.
We can process private health rebates in the clinic, for eligible services, provided by a eligible clinician under your level of cover.
