Have questions about our group supervision program? Here are some frequently asked questions to help you find the information you need.
What is the Program?
This program is tailored for provisional and registered psychologists, as well as other mental health workers seeking structured supervision and professional development. Sessions are typically offered in 4-week blocks, with weekly 1.5-hour sessions focused on specific skills and topics.
While topics and dates are planned in advance and updated on our calendar, new groups are regularly scheduled. Even if no upcoming topics are listed right now, we encourage you to get in touch so we can inform you as soon as the next group is available.
Where is it held?
Group supervision sessions are primarily conducted online, with some in-person options at our clinic in Prospect, Tasmania. The format depends on the content and the supervisor facilitating the session.
Who facilitates the sessions?
Sessions are led by our PsyBA Board Approved Supervisors, including Catherine Bishop (Clinical Psychologist) and Michaela Young (Clinical Psychologist). They can also serve as secondary supervisors for internships or registrar programs, with approval from your primary supervisor.
We occasionally bring in guest speakers to cover specialised topics, ensuring a broad learning experience.
When is it held?
Group supervision sessions are held regularly throughout the year. Check our calendar for upcoming sessions or contact us to find out when the next group will be available. New topics are planned and added regularly, so feel free to enquire even if a specific date isn’t listed right now.
How much does it cost?
The cost depends on whether it is a once-off session or a series of sessions. Supervision costs are GST-free for provisional psychologists completing an approved internship. GST applies for other attendees.
Payment can be made by the individual or directly by an organisation—just notify our admin team when booking.
How big is each group?
To maximise interaction and support, groups are small, with a minimum of 3 participants and a maximum of 5. This setup ensures each attendee gets valuable supervision time while meeting the requirements for group supervision hours.
Do I have to attend every session?
You’ll sign up for a 4-week block of sessions. While attending every session is encouraged, you can miss one if needed. However, missed sessions cannot be refunded or rescheduled.
What will the group cover?
Topics cover a wide range of issues relevant to early career psychologists and mental health professionals, such as:
PsyBA competencies for 4+2, 5+1, and clinical registrar pathways
National Psychology Exam preparation
Resource development and case reviews
Navigating early career challenges, including professional identity development
Specific topics are updated regularly on our calendar. Even if a topic you’re interested in isn’t listed, contact us, as we may be able to include it in future sessions.
Can I count supervision hours?
Yes! Group supervision hours can be counted toward your internship or CPD requirements. For the 4+2 pathway, you can count up to 60 supervision hours, and for the 5+1 pathway, up to 30 hours.
What if I change my mind about the group supervision block?
To withdraw, please notify us at least 72 hours before the scheduled session (or first session in a series) to receive a full refund. Cancellations made 72-48 hours prior will incur a 50% fee. Cancellations made within 48 hours of the scheduled session will incur the full fee. However, if a replacement from the waiting list can attend, the cancellation fee will be waived. Once a series of sessions has commenced, no refunds will be provided for any remaining sessions, regardless of the amount of notice provided.
Do I need to prepare for sessions?
Attendees may be required to complete pre-reading or case preparation before the session. You will be informed of any required materials via email ahead of time.
