Here are some frequently asked questions to help you find the information you need.
Who is facilitating the sessions?
Our group supervision sessions are typically facilitated by Catherine Bishop (Clinical Psychologist), a PsyBA Board-Approved Supervisor. Occasionally, other PsyBA Board-Approved Supervisors may facilitate a session, providing a diverse range of perspectives and experience.
The facilitator may also act as a Secondary Supervisor for psychology internships or registrar programs, with approval from your Primary Supervisor, allowing you to count the hours toward your program requirements.
When are the sessions held?
Group supervision sessions are held regularly, with new topics planned and added on an ongoing basis. Please check our calendar for upcoming sessions, or contact us to find out when the next group will be available. Starting from February 21st, 2025, sessions are scheduled for Fridays at 9:00 am, approximately every fortnight, depending on interest. Other days and times may be available sporadically.
How are the sessions delivered?
Group supervision sessions are primarily conducted online, with some in-person options at our clinic in Prospect, Tasmania (subject to demand). The format depends on the content and the location of both the supervisor and participants.
How long do the sessions go for?
Each session lasts for 90 minutes.
How much does group supervision cost?
Group supervision costs $135 per participant, per 90-minute session. Group supervision is GST-free for provisional psychologists completing an approved internship, while GST is included for other participants/ organisations.
Payment can be made individually or by an organisation. If an organisation is paying, please contact us if you have particular invoicing requirements, otherwise you’ll be able to register online and we will provide a tax invoice.
What is the group size for each session?
To ensure a supportive and interactive learning environment, group supervision sessions are kept small. Each group will have a minimum of 3 participants and a maximum of 5. This format allows each attendee to receive individual attention and make the most of their supervision hours, while also meeting the requirements for group supervision.
Do I need to prepare for group supervision sessions?
Attendees may be required to complete pre-reading or prepare a case prior to a session. Any necessary materials will be communicated via email ahead of time, so you will know exactly what to prepare.
Can group supervision hours be counted towards my Professional requirements?
Yes! Group supervision hours can be counted towards your practice requirements, depending on your pathway and registration status.
Provisional Psychologists: Group supervision hours can be counted towards the required supervised practice hours, provided the supervisor is a Board-Approved Supervisor and formally approved by the Board as your supervisor. Please check the current AHPRA guidelines for the maximum number of group supervision hours that can be counted for your specific pathway.
Registrars: Group supervision hours can be counted towards the required supervised practice hours, provided the supervisor is a Board-Approved Supervisor and formally approved by the Board as your supervisor. Please check the current AHPRA guidelines for the maximum number of group supervision hours that can be counted for your specific pathway.
Registered Psychologists: Group supervision hours can count towards your Continuing Professional Development (CPD) requirements. However, it is recommended to check with AHPRA for specific CPD requirements and the recognition of group supervision hours.
