Provisional, Registrar & Early Career Supervision at HMC
Clinical Supervision with Catherine Bishop, Emma Langley, Michaela Young, Dr Rachel Murray (psychology), or Olivia Boer.
HMC offers individual and group clinical supervision with skilled Board-approved supervisors. Each supervisor offers a unique approach to therapy and supervision as well as experience with a wide range of client groups. HMC can also support psychology Masters students as part of a field placement.
1. What supervision can a HMC board-approved supervisor provide?
Board-approved supervisors at HMC can perform any of these supervisory roles:
· 4+2 or 5+1 internship – primary or secondary supervisor
· Supervisor of higher degree students working in addition to placements
· Registrar programs – primary or secondary supervisor
· Re-entry program supervisor (for psychologists returning to practice)
· Transitional program supervisor (for overseas qualified psychologists)
2. How do I count individual supervision hours toward my internship?
Assuming you already have a primary supervisor, if you're looking to count individual supervision with HMC toward your internship hours, we can assist you by being added as your secondary supervisor. You can write a brief letter to the Psychology Board, signed by both you and your principal supervisor, advising of the addition of a HMC supervisor as your secondary supervisor. If you have not yet started your internship, you can also add a HMC supervisor as a secondary supervisor on your internship plan paperwork, allowing you to begin counting supervision hours right from the outset. Keep in mind that your principal supervisor will need to approve any changes.
3. Is supervision available for clinical psychology endorsement?
Yes! If you are a Clinical Registrar, a HMC supervisor can fill out the ACSP-76 form to officially list them as a primary or secondary supervisor for your hours.
4. How do I know which supervisor might be a good fit for me?
You can find out more about HMC Board-approved supervisors here.
5. Where are individual supervision sessions held?
Individual supervision sessions can be held in person, at Healthy Mind Centre in Prospect (Tasmania), or online using a platform like Zoom or HeathDirect.
6. How long are individual supervision sessions?
Individual supervision is typically 1 hour but can be up to 1.5 hours.
7. How much does individual supervision cost?
Individual supervision costs are in line with each supervisor’s fee schedule. Supervision costs may be subject to GST.
8. How do I pay?
Payments are typically made by credit/debit card on the day the service was provided. Sessions can be invoiced to the supervisee or an organisation for payment via bank transfer. A paying organisation must approve external supervision prior to commencement.
9. What if I need to cancel a session?
Supervisees are subject to our usual Cancellation Policy. We require 48 hours’ notice of cancellation/rescheduling.
> 48hrs notice = No fee
24-48hrs notice = 50% fee
< 24hrs notice = 100% fee
