BLOCK 1:
Any time a psychologist sees a client they should be making an assessment of their client’s mental state and risk related concerns. However, psychologists can often become anxious in introducing questions around suicide risk during sessions with clients. The first half of this session will focus specifically on how to conduct an MSE during session and implications for this in regard to client care. Supervisees will have opportunity to practice skills in conducting an MSE during session. The second half of this session will focus on suicide risk assessment, including common fears when assessing for risk, areas to consider, and ways to introduce questions regarding suicide risk in sessions with clients.
